MOLESKINE x HDK x GAKUGEI UNI
llustration projects for Moleskine called Wandering Moleskine that was a series of notebooks filled with a series of travel illustration over multiple years with focus on Japan. After the Wandering Moleskine project, a new project began with a series of workshop exchanges between Sweden and Japan. I organized a creative workshop with material given from Moleskine, together with HDK School of Design and Crafts we established contact with Gakugei University to make a workshop in Japan.
The workshop took place in Gakugei University, Tokyo, Japan, arranged by me and fellow students from HDK School of Crafts.
Goal of the workshop was to work with sustainable design from a sentimental perspective. By attaching sentimental value to objects in our daily life we thus create a sustainable property as well because we cherish these objects and artifacts much more than objects we don’t feel we share any memories with.
We collected objects with little expression in terms of color or texture but very basic ones. Each student collected an object at random and further embellished this object with their own skill set. The point of the workshop is to give insight how either involving a user can create a personal object and in the creation create a memory. But also the insight to our audience that choose objects or design that will create memories.
